The Kazoo…

Sometimes its hard for me to remember I’m raising a child. Not training a dog. I have been caught numerous times asking Miles to “Drop it” or “leave it”

Every time he learns something new I can’t wait to show everyone his new “Trick”

He has quite an arsenal of tricks lately.

When my parents were in town, my mom brought him a kazoo. She tried so hard to teach him how to blow into it while she was here. But the only trick she perfected with him was “shake it, shake it.”

Fast forward to a few nights ago. He’s playing on the living room floor while we are watching Monsters vs. Aliens. He is surrounded by toys, picks up the kazoo and actually starts to make noise with it!

And continues through 3 videos and then shows my mom on a video chat!

It is now pretty much his favorite thing to do. He’s even getting better at just blowing into it, not trying to talk into it!

I love new tricks!

Getting creative with finger foods…

Miles can eat exactly 2 things.
Sweet potatoes and Apple sauce
(sometimes when we are feeling really adventurous we mix the two!
We are all about living on the edge…)
I have been concerned lately about how this not eating will affect him later in life, and how not having finger foods will affect his motor skills.
After some research and brainstorming we decided to try cutting up his frozen cubes of sweet potato puree and using that for finger food…
He had NO clue what do do with it at first. He just smeared them around.. a lot!
(I love this video because we catch a little glimpse of what we call “The Hulk” He cliches his fists together so tightly and shakes his whole body when he’s mad! We love it… [for now!])
(We also love at about :25 seconds when “Nosey McNoserson” has to see what the dog is growling about…)
We finally got smart at a restaurant last week and realized we could just cut up a cooked sweet potato.
He liked that a lot more and eventually got the hang of getting those slimy little bites into his mouth. We’ve even done it a few times at home…
I love being able to find a little bit of normalcy in our new routine…
