Is it okay to say???

We had so much fun just hanging out at the Heber Cemetery on Saturday. (Is it okay to say you had fun at a cemetery?) Well.. we did!

I delivered the cake to Aaron’s cousins reception a few hours early so we had some time to kill. His Aunt mentioned we should go to the cemetery to see Scott, and I thought it sounded like a good idea.

Baby LOVES being outside and had so much fun. We walked around for a bit before picking a bench to sit on.. Soon the sun began to set and we had to find another bench more in the shade.

I was a beautiful day, the cemetery was very busy and the birds were singing their little hearts out…

He’s discovered a new love for my camera string!

We spent a little over 2 hours just sitting on a bench in the cemetery. Miles was so happy the whole time, just laughing and talking and watching the world go by. It was one of the best afternoons we’ve had in a long time!
As we were getting ready to head back to the reception we stopped for a picture with Miles and his Uncle Scott.*

*You see, we have this debate going on in our house. I think that Miles actually got to meet Uncle Scott. I think he already knows him. Since you aren’t sealed to a baby unless they take a breath outside of the womb, it leads me to the impression that they do not have a spirit until they take a breath. Aaron on the other hand thinks they have a spirit from conception, therefore he would not have spent time with Scott in heaven. I choose to believe he did get to spend time with him. Most of my belief is based on the fact that the very first time Aaron felt Miles kick was when we were sitting in the viewing room of Scott’s funeral. Aaron was so sad that he hadn’t felt it yet and really wanted to. I reached over and grabbed his hand and put it on my stomach as we watched the changing of the guard. Right then, Miles kicked him. For the first time… it was a moment we won’t ever forget! So whether or not Miles got to spend time with Scott in heaven, we know he is still watching over us and is always with us!

Miss you Uncle Scott…..

  1. First of all, that cake is gorgeous!! Where were you when I got married??? And I think it’s just fine to enjoy a day at a cemetery. I think there is something almost calming about them, so I can see why you had such a great time!

Beautiful story, and quite a debate. I even think that particular debate raises more question on different but related topics. What a great way to spark interest and continue learning about the gospel.

When we lived in Utah everyday we would pass a cemetery when I took Robert to school. He would always ask when we could get out and look.I felt kinda bad and told him that it would be rude because we don’t have anyone there. Maybe I should take him now…like Deborah said…it might be calming for him!
